Famous: Getting the Look of Celebrity Wedding Rings

From their clothes to jewelry to the restaurants they eat in, celebrities help drive trends. We are fueled by a bizarre desire to recreate as much of their seemingly magical lives as we can. I’ll be honest: I’ll never be able to afford the houses they have or the clothes they wear. I’ll probably never be able to afford most of their jewelry either, but hey, that is not stopping me from trying. With that in mind, I thought we could spend today going over some of the best specimens in celebrity wedding rings…and how to get the same look without the giant price tag.

When it comes to ladies’ and men’s wedding bands, Timeless Wedding Bands can’t be topped. No matter what style you’re looking for, we’ve got what you need. The rings we’ll talk about today are extremely versatile and fashionable, while still remaining classic and approachable.

From elegant plain gold bands to the epitome of sparkle, celebrity style runs the gamut. We’ll start with the plain gold band, since it’s been a staple of men’s and women’s wedding ring style since, well, just about forever. To learn more about the history of the wedding ring, check out this blog. Both Jessica Biel and Kate Middleton wear plain gold bands with their engagement rings. Their wedding bands are both very delicate and have slim profiles.

Kate Middleton Wedding Ring

While Kate’s ring is made from the gold of a large nugget that was mined in Wales (hence the name “Welsh gold”), you’re not going to be able to recreate that. Welsh gold is predominantly reserved for making jewelry for the British Royal Family, especially wedding bands. It has become a sort of tradition. Which is why Kate’s engagement ring is platinum, but her band is yellow gold. Fortunately for her, mixing metal colors is incredibly popular right now.

Portia De Rossi, bride of Ellen DeGeneres, also wears a simple and slim white gold band in her wedding set. Jessica Biel's wedding rings are similar in that she has a simple gold band accompanying her engagement ring. But she takes it one step further. She actually wears two bands with her engagement ring. One is the plain gold band and the other is a diamond eternity band. An eternity band is a simple band that features diamonds all the way around it. The shape of the diamond can be just about anything: round, rectangular, square. The thing that sets eternity bands apart is that they are diamonds all the way around. There isn’t an expanse that is just metal. The drawback here is that you need to know exactly what size you need, since eternity bands can’t be sized after the fact. Also, since there are diamonds all the way around the ring, smaller stones are better suited to these wedding rings for women. If you like the eternity band look but want larger diamonds or want the ability to size your ring in the future, consider a half-eternity band. These rings only have the diamonds on the top of the ring; on the bottom and bottom-sides, they are plain gold.

Another A-lister who prefers a little sparkle and shine is Fergie. Fergie wears a simple eternity band, which provides a very interesting and stark contrast to her other ring. An enormous gold band features a large center round diamond and rays of tiny round diamonds radiating from the center like a sunburst. The pairing is smart because it showcases her personal style while retaining a small traditional element.

For those of you ladies who love the classic gold band, go with something petite that will complement your engagement ring. The 2mm Half Round Comfort Fit band is the perfect fit. It’s delicate, elegant, and traditional (even though it’s very popular currently), plus it comes in 10k or 14k white or yellow gold. For the girl who wants a little more pizzazz (like me), Passion is a beautiful choice for a full eternity band and Emma is a great option for a half-eternity band. Both of these rings come in multiple karat weights and different gold colors.

Cameron Diaz really went off the beaten path and I couldn’t be happier with her choice. It’s fresh and modern, but reserved and refined. Her ring is a stunner. It’s a thicker domed band with burnished diamonds. A larger specialty shape stone resides in the middle and small round diamonds dance around, like stardust from the heavens. With a burnished setting, the stones are actually set completely in the metal, so that the table (that’s the big facet on the top of the stone) is just about flush with the top of the metal on the ring. There are no prongs or raised bezel cups. Burnished stones have a completely unique look and are actually quite labor-intensive, requiring a skilled artisan. If this sounds like something that would look quite fetching on your finger, check out the Radiant Star Wedding Band. This domed beauty is not quite as wide (although this ring comes up to six mm wide) as Cameron’s but it has nearly a quarter-carat of diamonds burnished set, which is the feature that makes her ring so eye-catching.

Katy Perry gets props too for her wedding ring. Back when she was with Russell Brand, the two sported matching pavé set diamond bands. A thick band, like theirs, is the perfect backdrop for a sea of glittering diamonds. Pavé setting usually requires smaller diamonds, because they are so tightly packed together to create almost a fabric of stones. The Paloma is the ideal match for the lady who wants something really different, but also highly sophisticated and polished. Over a carat of diamonds are set in this slightly concave ring. Paloma is available in platinum, plus 10k, 14k, and 18k white, yellow, and rose gold.
